Cooker Baked Beans
Slow-Cooked Brown Sugar Baked Beans
Baked beans might not be everyone’s favorite—until they try this version. These beans are rich, sweet, and smoky with a depth of flavor that tastes like they simmered all day (and they did!). Thanks to canned beans, you get all the flavor with minimal fuss.
Ingredients
Ingredient | Amount |
---|---|
Canned pork and beans | 4 cans (15 oz each) |
Bacon, cooked and crumbled | 1 package |
Green bell pepper, diced | ½ pepper |
Yellow onion, chopped | 1 medium |
Molasses | 4 tablespoons |
Ketchup | 4 tablespoons |
Brown sugar | ⅔ cup |
Yellow mustard | 2 tablespoons |
Apple cider vinegar | ¼ cup |
1. Mix Ingredients
In your slow cooker, combine all the ingredients except for the bacon. Stir everything together until fully mixed.
2. Let It Simmer
Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours. This long, gentle cook allows the beans to absorb all that rich, tangy sweetness.
3. Add Bacon
Just before serving, sprinkle the crumbled bacon on top for a savory, smoky finish.
4. Serve & Enjoy
Serve the beans warm. They’re perfect alongside grilled meats, burgers, or roasted vegetables—ideal for barbecues, picnics, or cozy meals at home.
Tips & Twists
- Smoky Boost: Swap yellow mustard for Dijon, and add a pinch of smoked paprika for depth.
- Add Some Spice: For a little kick, stir in some chipotle peppers in adobo or crushed red pepper flakes.
- From Scratch Option: Prefer using dried beans? Soak and cook them in advance, then follow the same steps with equally delicious results.
