DHS Launches New Nationwide Campaign to Remove Illegal Aliens from America [WATCH]
On Tuesday, Secretary Kristi Noem of the Department of Homeland Security announced the launch of a new nationwide advertising initiative aimed at promoting a self-deportation option via the CBP Home App.
This initiative provides financial incentives and legal relief to undocumented immigrants who voluntarily leave the United States.
The campaign seeks to increase participation in an existing voluntary departure program by showcasing new advantages for undocumented immigrants who opt to exit the country without federal intervention.
Participants in the program who utilize the CBP Home App for self-deportation will be granted a complimentary plane ticket to their home country and financial assistance of up to $1,000.
Moreover, they will maintain the right to return to the United States legally at a future date in accordance with current immigration laws.
Conversely, those who opt out of the program will encounter more severe repercussions. The DHS has stated that undocumented immigrants who reject the offer will face fines, detention, and forced removal.
Additionally, they will be permanently prohibited from legally reentering the United States.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, Secretary Noem highlighted that this initiative represents a final chance for undocumented immigrants to leave the country on their own terms.
“The CBP Home app provides immigrants the choice to depart now and self-deport, allowing them the possibility of returning legally in the future and achieving the American dream,” Noem remarked.
The newly introduced advertising campaign is tailored to reach undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S. through various digital channels, including social media, app notifications, and targeted outreach in multiple languages.
The DHS pointed out that, prior to this new campaign, a considerable number of undocumented immigrants had already benefited from previous self-deportation initiatives during President Donald Trump’s administration.
DHS’s internal estimates indicate that the number is in the tens of thousands, whereas independent analyses of U.S. employment data imply that this figure could reach as high as one million.
The Mexican government has recognized the return of over 56,000 Mexican nationals who voluntarily departed from the U.S. under similar initiatives.
DHS officials anticipate that this number will rise significantly in the upcoming months as awareness of the CBP Home App increases.
Initially introduced during the Trump administration and expanded earlier this year, the app aims to simplify certain immigration processes and lessen dependence on physical enforcement methods.
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the Trump administration to decrease the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. and to prioritize lawful immigration.
DHS is also actively collaborating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to enforce removal orders and carry out targeted enforcement operations.
As part of the campaign’s rollout, DHS is expected to provide updated metrics on voluntary departures by the end of the quarter.
The agency has also confirmed that no further legislative approval is necessary to implement the program, as the authority to fund transportation and limited assistance for self-removal is already established under existing immigration statutes.
