But the grandmother refused, saying she had already raised her children and wasn’t up for raising another. She even suggested the couple try living like a “traditional” family, where one parent stays home.
The daughter explained their financial reality: she’s the higher earner, and staying home wasn’t an option. But her mom stood firm—she’d babysit only for $20 an hour, plus late fees, and only if they provided duplicates of everything the baby might need. The daughter considered daycare instead, even though it wasn’t ideal.
