During their discussion on the front steps of his Turnberry golf course in Scotland, Trump made a significant statement by informing Starmer, in the presence of reporters and cameras, that action was necessary to combat illegal immigration.
“Immigration is a major issue. Frankly, if individuals are arriving from other countries and their backgrounds are unknown, particularly if they are coming from prisons, we are taking measures to remove them. Last June, we had a situation where, just recently, last month, there were no individuals entering the country, except through legal channels. If you are halting immigration and preventing the entry of undesirable individuals,” Trump asserted.
“You are not just doing a good job; you are doing an exceptional job. I am not familiar with the situation regarding the boats. However, if those boats are filled with undesirable individuals, which is often the case, it is because other nations do not send their best. They send individuals they wish to be rid of, and they are not necessarily unwise. They send those they do not want. I have heard that you have adopted a much firmer position,” Trump continued.
