President Trump reiterated his warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding “very severe” economic repercussions should he halt the Ukraine peace process. He emphasized this caution to reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to Alaska for a crucial meeting with Putin.
The summit in Alaska marks the first engagement between the United States and Russia since 2021, and it is expected to concentrate on bringing an end to Moscow’s conflict in Ukraine. Additionally, Putin suggested that Russia might be open to finalizing a nuclear arms agreement with the United States, although it remains uncertain if this will be included in the discussions on Friday.

“We have a good relationship. There is mutual respect on both sides, and I believe that something positive will emerge from this. I observed that he is bringing numerous business representatives from Russia, which I find encouraging. They are eager to engage in business, but that cannot happen until we resolve the conflict,” Trump stated.
“The war must come to an end, and the violence must cease,” Trump added.
A reporter subsequently inquired, “What about the potential for the United States to offer security guarantees to Ukraine, possibly in collaboration with Europe and other nations, but not through NATO, as certain aspects are currently unfeasible?”
Trump stated, “Indeed, in conjunction with Europe, there is a growing possibility that the number of business individuals accompanying the president is something significant to address during this meeting. If we make headway, I would bring it up, as it pertains to what they wish to achieve. What I have established in terms of job creation and the economy is noteworthy; we were once a stagnant nation.
